Health and Wellness in the workplace is a rising trend. The habits that started with start-ups are now becoming increasingly mainstream, and the worlds largest and most innovative companies are including yoga, meditation, organic food, ongoing learning, art and play in their schedules and benefit packages.
Research is showing time and time again that these mindfulness practices have a direct positive impact on productivity. In fact, "according to the American Psychological Association (APA), mindfulness brought about by activities such as yoga, meditation, or tai chi improves cognition, strengthens communication skills, sharpens focus, reduces stress levels and helps negate fear."
Health and mindfulness in the workplace is a common ground for the baby-boomer generation and millenials alike. In the past, spirituality and health were looked over by businesses. But the fast paced, high stress, uber-connected business culture is losing popularity fast and is being replaced by an increasingly health and environmentally conscious corporate culture. Offering healthy, organic, gluten free options in cafeterias, free yoga or meditation classes and lunch times and allowing employees to work from home a few days a week, thus reducing their carbon footprint are becoming standard in many larger organizations.
This trend towards wellness also includes "mindful meetings". Corporate retreats promoting wellness and mindfulness are all the rage. The Costa Rica Yoga Spa, in Nosara, Costa Rica is a superb location for a small to medium size organization to hold a mindful meeting or corporate retreat:
Your entire team will benefit from the beauty and energy of our unique jungle location. Travel promotes creativity and teamwork, your company and employees will benefit greatly from this experience!
We would love to speak to you about facilitating a meeting for your team in Nosara, Costa Rica. Please contact our events manager at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1-888-533-6461 today.
If you have been in Nosara for a while, you have a sense of the flow of the place. Though we are a beach town, we experience seasons all the same. After the winter, which is during north American summer, the rains dry up and as locals we all brace ourselves - for the high season!
Most of us who live and work down here understand this... and we know how important it is to take some time to rest and restore before the busy season descends upon us!
The team here at the Costa Rica Yoga Spa has devised a great plan for this important rest: we are offering a superb deal to all locals: two nights stay in a gorgeous suite and three healthy, delicious meals prepared daily - for the very low cost of $99 per person per night!
We invite you to come, in two weeks time (December 8th and 9th) to lounge by our pool, watch sunset on the teak decks overlooking the ocean, and be served by our wonderful staff. It will be our pleasure to arrange for extra services such as massages, aesthetics, private yoga classes, readings... whatever you would like to enjoy a complete weekend of relaxation.
This is a limited time offer, we only have space for 4 couples this weekend, so please get in touch with us as soon as you can to reserve your spot. This is your chance to get away from it all, and enjoy a staycation that will leave you refreshed and ready for an amazing 2018 season in Nosara.
We're waiting for you with open arms,
Costa Rica Yoga Spa Team!
The name Nosara was the name of a beautiful and wise Chorotegan princess. Legend has it that Princess Nosara lived on these lands in the 16th century, before the Spanish came. Nosara hid all of the gold of the tribal villages, burying it so that it would not be taken. The Spanish stole her off to Europe, though, and she died of a broken heart missing her beautiful people and land.
When the Nicoyan peninsula, along with most of central America was overtaken by Spanish conquistadores, much of this region was converted into cattle ranches. By the 18th century, cattle, wheat and sugarcane were the primary industries of this area, and evidence of this is still present in “cowboy” culture today. These industries called for mass destruction of the forests and wild jungle that were the home of the Chorotegans.
After cattle came the church, and the Spanish set to converting the Indians to Catholicism throughout the region, devastating most of Chorotegan culture and practices. Nosara remained virtually unchanged for the next few hundred years until the arrival of the first surfer.
Jerry ( who still has the hardware store in downtown Nosara) drove his VW van down to what is now Garza, and hiked his way into Guiones to surf there. Surfers continued to trickle down here slowly throughout the 90’s … some people who live here still remember before there was a road to Nicoya, which only happened in about 1980. Back then, lots on the beach started at $3000….
20 years and a few more zeros later, Nosara continues to grow. We have roads now, some are even paved! A yoga, surfing, and healthy lifestyle hotspot Nosara boasts many restaurants and cafes, yoga studios, yoga retreat centres, surf schools, bars, rental properties, hotels, a co-working spot, surf schools, high school, live music, dancing, ziplines, hiking, and new businesses opening up every year!!
It’s a magical place, the hum of the jungle and the healing waters of the Rio Nosara still run through. It must be felt to truly be understood. Come visit us and see what everyone is talking about!
These sunsets, you have to see them to believe them! Off to catch one now.
