Meditation Sessions
Offering a variety of styles, from the classic sitting in silence and observing the breath, to movement and walking meditations, in these sessions we will have a short discussion on the practice of meditation and the benefits offered from quieting the mind and experiencing the moment. Rarely do we have the time or patience to take an honest look at what goes through our minds. Here we have an opportunity to slow down and experience the body and our surroundings through this age old practice, in turn encouraging the cultivation of compassion with ourselves and environment. Other benefits include, lowering heart rate, easing anxiety & depression, building self esteem, peace of mind, and self observation.
Breathing Sessions
Pranayama, or breath control, is a vital element in the practice of Hatha yoga. Usually in a typical class, there is an emphasis on coordinating the breath with the movements, yet there is little time to explain the basics about the different types of breaths that can be used. In these classes we will have a chance to dialog about the different pranayama exercises and the different benefits they serve. Also allowing the time for discussion and reflection on ones experience. The practice of pranayama has long been believed and experienced by yogi's to expand the mind, move physical blocks in the body and to bring an overwhelming calming yet euphoric feeling.
