To retreat, to move away from your routine is to see life with new eyes, to shine light on dark corners and never before seen spaces; this is the ultimate gift of self love.
Thai massage and yoga go hand in hand. Working the lines of the body to flush out negative energies and bring in the positive as well as increasing range of motion, circulation and overall the bodies ability to move and perform. One more active, one more passive, both essential arts to a well rounded body and soul. Also yoga "flows" and Thai massage also "flows." Smooth transitions define both of these arts and so we will learn not only the flows of yoga but the flows of Thai massage whether you are giving or receiving. Wonderful skills will be learned in the arts of Thai massage to supplement your yoga practice and life whether you are massaging someone else or just yourself. You will know the blueprint for these ancient and wonderful systems of care.
Yoga in the morning, Thai Massage in the afternoon
JJ & Ryan are excited to be putting together their first retreat at the Costa Rica Yoga Spa. This will be Ryan's second time hosting a retreat in Costa Rica. We will be staying in one of only six blue zones in the world-a place where people consistently live to over 100 years! The atmosphere is truly magical & contagious. We would love for you to experience the beauty that Costa Rica has to offer and join us for a life changing experience!
Days will begin with daily morning yoga practice with JJ & Ryan followed by a breakfast prepared with local organic ingredients…yum!
The day times are yours to enjoy however you want; relax with a massage, go to the beach, hangout by the pool. Explore the surroundings with an excursion like zip lining, jungle tours, etc.
Afternoons will be filled with guided Thai Massage sessions. The sessions are like following a yoga class where JJ & Ryan demonstrate techniques and guide through actions & words. The week will begin with simple sequences for lying on the back/stomach and will progress to more advanced techniques through the week.
After our guided Thai Massage workshops, dinner will be served.
Practcioners will work with each others to give & receive a massage each and every day! If you plan to come with someone specific, you can work with them the whole week. If you come alone, you can choose your partner each day. It is recommend to switch to a new partner each day.
Escape into a world of relaxation, rejuvenation and magic.
Thai massage will add a new level to your current practice and does wonders for longevity and endurance of your practice. Open a new path of healing for yourself.
Join Ryan & JJ for this week of amazing self care through mindfulness, yoga, and amazing food balanced with the compassionate work of Thai Massage. All Levels welcome…coming solo or with a massage partner.
Its all happening-and we’d love for you to be apart of it!

Ryan is a Yoga Instructor (200 HR, Core Power Yoga) and soon to be Licensed Massage Therapist based out of Austin Texas y’all! He has been addicted to yoga and body work since getting injured in a car accident in 2011. Ryan believes the true practice of yoga extends far beyond our mat and expands throughout our daily life. He is forever grateful to the teachers and students who shared their knowledge of yoga. Ryan loves to travel and experience other cultures and is forever a student of life.
John James Pepper is a yoga instructor, Thai massage therapist, kinesiologist and trainer with a degree from the University of Texas. It was there he fell in love with movement as he played collegiate sports and studied. That brought about untimely injuries that turned out to be extremely fortunate. Through these injuries JJ realized the importance of training not just the body and mind but the spirit as well. He dove into meditation and this led him to pursue healing arts to supplement his training background, the two most namely being yoga and Thai massage. It is JJ's goal to help as many as he can to heal and prevent injuries so as to live the longest and most joyous life possible. It is an honor to host this retreat and he am so very happy to serve you.
